AnnotationThere is a paucity of cross-cultural studies of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). This study based in a geriatric psychiatry service in West London examined BPSD in a consecutive series of subjects of Indian sub-continent origin and white indigenous older people admitted to a geriatric day hospital using the BEHAVE-AD. The study did not reveal any major differences in BPSD between patients of Indian sub-continent origin. There is a need to develop instruments measuring BPSD in different ethnic minority groups. There is a case for cross-cultural population-based epidemiological studies of BPSD. (RH).
