Annotation | This Research Note reports findings from a narrative review of the literature on the rate and cause of delayed hospital discharge in the UK. In addition to summarizing knowledge to date in this important area, the Research Note raises a series of questions about aspects of current hospital discharge policy and practice (and in particular, the recent reimbursement policy to charge social services departments for delayed discharges).
