Annotation | The Committee believes that the right to a good death should be fundamental, and that social attitudes contribute to problems in helping people achieve this. Its report examines issues of choice, provision, location and timeliness of palliative care services; equity of provision, noting geographical and patient group inequities; quality of services; and staffing and funding. The key message from this inquiry is that if palliative care is to achieve improvements in the quality of the last months of life across the population, it will need to operate more equitably and to find a way of overcoming the divide between health and social care.
