Annotation | It is often assumed that caring is a role for women, and that the few male carers there are receive substantially more help and support than do female carers. The author reviews the literature, and while she finds inconsistencies regarding the prevalence of male carers, the 1990s saw a greater increase in the number of men as spouse carers than women.
