Annotation | The National Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy for England (NAHRS) (2004) and other current alcohol policies all but ignore the fact that drink is a problem for many older people. This article examines the current policy context within which professionals are able to obtain specialist alcohol services. While research has identified alcohol problems as an issue for older people, current policy tends to exclude this group. The article concludes that policy must recognise the needs of older people, and that specialist training is required for professionals to identify alcohol problems in older people. (RH). |
