AnnotationIn 2004, the King's Fund established a Committee of Inquiry to consider care services for older people in London. This interim report sets out early findings from opinions expressed and information submitted to the Inquiry between March and September 2004. Major concerns identified from this early evidence include: limited choices for service users; service and staffing shortages; poor quality of some services; funding pressures; and lack of collaboration across London boroughs. The report identifies three main issues on which there is widespread disgreement or uncertainty: the balance between residential care and care at home; crisis care and preventative approaches; and debates about the funding of care. Because of these tensions, there can be no simple solutions to the problems outlined in this report. (RH).
