AnnotationThe author notes the emphasis of the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF) on person-centred care, collaborative multi-agency working and implementation of the Single Assessment Process (SAP) to facilitate the transfer of information between agencies. However, she provides evidence that the NSF and the NHS and Community Care Act 1990 pull services in seemingly contradictory directions, especially when costs are incurred for providing services. She questions the introduction of reimbursements for delayed discharge, and whether such a policy reflects a commitment to person-centred care. (RH).
