AnnotationThe benefits of 'generations in action' (GIA), as set up and managed through the Salford Business Education Partnership (BEP), are demonstrated. GIA's main aim is to encourage the transfer of skills and experiences of older people to younger people who are identified as needing extra support which is offered as mentoring or other one-to-one activities. This report describes the qualitative and quantitative methods and data, and presents results obtained from using the Short Form Health Survey (SF12) and the quality of life measure CASP-19 (Control, Autonomy, Self-realisation and Pleasure). The report also highlights the many ways in which volunteering by older people (aged 50+) could be promoted or encouraged. (RH).
