AnnotationThe ODPM has responsibility for housing policy in England. Information from the Survey of English Housing is presented, based on interviews with some 19,640 households. Additional tables in this edition have been used from the Labour Force Survey or the Family Resources Survey to add depth to the data collected. The survey describes trends in: tenure and household characteristics; mobility, movement between tenures, and distances moved; home ownership and its financing; and social and private sector renting. Additional topics for this year are: Households in the most deprived wards; Attitudes to local area; and, Tenants' views of their landlord. There is only brief mention of those living in communal establishments and readers are referred to Department of Health statistics. (RH/KJ).
