AnnotationLifetime Homes put people at the heart of housing design. With a thorough understanding of the concept, careful planning and creative design, Lifetime Homes can be readily achieved in virtually all housing types. This video looks at a few examples, and features the people who design, build and live in Lifetime Homes. The accompanying booklets - "Lifetime homes: living well together: achieving sustainable, flexible homes within high density neighbourhoods", and "Lifetime Homes: 21st century living: quality, flexibility and choice" -. aim to demonstrate that by integrating Lifetime Homes standards into higher density developments, it is possible to create sustainable, inclusive neighbourhoods and enough affordable homes for everyone. The video and booklets have been produced by Habinteg Housing Association in collaboration with GML Architects, backed by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF). The project was funded by the London Development Agency and the Places for People Group. Assistance from the Centre for Accessible Environments is also acknowledged. Further in-depth technical details and case studies my be found on the Lifetime Homes website. (RH)
