AnnotationPublication in Scotland of a Delayed Discharge Action Plan in March 2002 suggested among other things a range and capacity review of community care services for older people. The range and capacity review is being carried out by the Scottish Executive in conjunction with health and local authority representatives and members of the independent sector. It seeks to assist the short- and long-term planning of local partnerships, by looking at the levels of community care services for older people over the next five, ten and fifteen years, as a means of identifying the most effective way of developing and managing the market to meet future needs. The report uses a model that looks at demand for, and financing of, key community care services for older people in Scotland, and which also considers what happens when certain assumptions are built in.
