Annotation | Mobility tasks such as walking and reaching are more often avoided by those older people with fear of falling. Fear-related avoidance of activities is correlated with physical performance, including general physical frailty, postural control and maximal muscle strength. Fear-related evidence of activities is predictive of future falls. This article reports findings of a Belgian study of 225 community-living older people (94 men and 131 women) aged 61-92. (RH). |
