AnnotationThe author makes a brief case for a "resounding yes" to a small non-taxable stipend being paid to support volunteers in community intergenerational programmes. The specific case under discussion is of foster grandparents in a model community partnership programme's child care centre in the state of Florida. The author believes that the spirit of altruism and the intrinsic motivation of volunteers used was not compromised; and such a small stipend offers a reward to an economically vulnerable group.
