Annotation | This report is based on original research by John Ambler of the Pension Service, commissioned by East Midlands Tomorrow, a multi-stakeholder group. The focus on "positive ageing" is to encourage readers to think more holistically at the contribution older people make to the East Midlands (covering Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland) in terms of: their economic and social contribution; as consumers; as active citizens; and as members of urban and rural communities. The report also looks at the heterogeneity of the region's older people in terms of socio-economic factors such as ethnicity and race, social class and disability, as well as the services required such as housing and transport.
