AnnotationThe seven papers in this special issue of Gerontology & Geriatrics Education result from the Pre-Conference entitled "Expanding business: the realities of internet-based courses and continuing education programs in gerontology", conducted at the 29th Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE), held in St Petersburg, Florida on March 6, 2003. The compilation begins with an overview that establishes a context for the articles that follow, and these cover interdisciplinary courses that are run for online delivery. Use of the term "cyber-learning environment" refers to the on-line educational offerings, resources, special structures and e-processes for internet users with different levels of education and technical skills in acquiring new knowledge and skills.
