AnnotationIn July 2003, the Scottish Executive commissioned a qualitative research study into the implementation and early operation of Part 5 of the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. A 3-stage process of data collection was employed across four case study areas of Scotland to focus on the experiences of those involved with Part 5 of the Act and its related Code of Practice. This process involved a postal questionnaire with health and social care practitioners, 52 interviews with practitioners and representatives of relevant stakeholder organisations, and 4 interviews with carers of adults who had experienced the operation of Part 5 of the Act. This paper presents the main findings of the research, full details of which are in a report (same title) obtainable from the Stationery Office Bookshop in Edinburgh. (RH).
