Annotation | The impetus for this study came initially from an examination of a range of major policy reports relevant to the development of lifelong education in the UK that have been published since 1997. Older people have been deemed to be "post work", and have largely been marginalised or excluded from educational debate and policy, in favour of the economic considerations of post-16 education. The author reports on her work for one of 24 projects funded under the ESRC Growing Older (GO) Programme; her project was grouped with two others under the theme of participation and activity.
