Annotation | Sandra Gidley has brought together material on older prisoners' needs from the 2003 Prison Reform Trust (PRT) and Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) report, "Growing old in prison", by Ken Howse. It also includes answers to written Parliamentary questions she has tabled during 2004 about older prisoners. Recommendations made on behalf of the Liberal Democrats include the development of a national strategy to deal with the increasing number of older prisoners, and urging the Government to consider assessing the health and social care needs of prisoners when they reach age 65.
