AnnotationThe Pensioners' Manifesto has been created after discussion among older people, culminating in the debates at the 2004 Pensioners' Parliament. The manifesto comprises policy demands on: pensions and income; health and care; transport and mobility; neighbourhood and community (abolition of the council tax); and active citizenship. An appendix gives estimated annual costs of the key proposals, and how existing funds could be reallocated and additional funds raised. The aim of the Manifesto is to put the concerns of older people at the heart of political debate, and to put pressure on all political parties and their candidates to endorse its contents. (RH).
