AnnotationThe availability, timing and management of a diagnosis all have a significant influence on the experience of people with dementia and the model of care they receive. "Home for good?" was supported by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) as part of its programme of research and innovative development projects. It explores the findings of a study which investigated the current models of practice for supporting people with learning difficulties and dementia: ageing in place; in place progression; and referral out. The study reports on and makes recommendations regarding the experiences and needs of co-residents and relatives; the experiences, knowledge and working practices of staff; environmental aspects; pain issues; strategies for providing services when someone has to move; and issues for managers and commissioners of services. Case studies and examples of best practice in care home provision are included throughout. The poster gives tips on supporting people with learning difficulties who develop dementia. (RH).
