Annotation | Why should social services and welfare for older people be explored cross-culturally? Research reviewed here demonstrates that in a global society, responses to ageing populations are not confined to countries with high numbers or proportions of older people. The research variously examines Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and the Netherlands. There is much that we can learn from other approaches and interpretations of residential and institutional care, care management, carers' movements, and measures of well-being. (RH). |
