Annotation | In research from the Carers National Association (CNA) in 2001, carers were asked to recommend one piece of action that NHS managers could take to improve carers' experiences. This article outlines the publication's findings, "You can take him home now: carers' experiences of hospital discharge", by Emily Holzhausen. It points to what progress has been made since CNA's previous report on the subject in 1998, "Ignored and invisible" by Melanie Henwood, and notes that carers are still overlooked and denied the information and help that they require to carry out their caring role. Some points for practice on hospital discharge policy are suggested. (RH). |
