AnnotationPast studies have suggested that life satisfaction is affected by lifelong experiences. However, these experiences are made up of complex interactions of psychological constructs such as culture, religiosity, social support, and physical and mental health. This cross-cultural comparative study focuses on cultural aspects thought to influence life satisfaction in older Japanese and Japanese-American older people. Participants included 27 individuals aged 60+ from Sapporo, Japan, and Portland, Oregon. A survey including quantitative and qualitative questions was administered to determine participants' perspectives on various psychosocial constructs and their effects on life satisfaction. Results indicate that differences exist between participants groups on constructs of religiosity, social support, perceived health, and life satisfaction. (RH).
