AnnotationHelp the Aged would like the scope of legislation outlawing age discrimination in employment to be extended to include the supply of goods and services. Part 1 of this discussion paper reports on a seminar which discussed whether age discrimination can be challenged in respect of financial services, given that age criteria are already deeply embedded in financial products. Issues raised included recommendations in the Sandler Inquiry, and the 2002 Green Paper, "Simplicity, security and choice: working and saving for retirement". Part 2 assesses how the debate can be taken forward on age discrimination in respect of goods and services, including financial services such as insurance and consumer protection issues. (RH).
