Annotation | An interview with Professor Ian Philp, National Director for older people's services, covers various aspects of implementing the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF). This includes issues to do with joint working, such as the introduction of the single assessment process (SAP), which "still has some way to go". The Change Agent Team (CAT) has been successful in improving services, particularly in its impact on hospital discharge. Some of the "modernisation" themes have been borrowed from the US, such "S & M": "segment" the population to identify subgroups that should benefit from an intervention, and "marshall" resources around that population. Evercare is another approach cited as being successful. (RH). |
