Annotation | Assistive technology has long been talked about as a possible means of prolonging older people's independence by protecting them from potentially dangerous situations with the use of "smart" sensors. Monitoring a wide range of situations, these sensors provide a rapid alert when a monitored parameter lies outside the specified limits. In this article, developments in assistive technology and also life-style reassurance solutions are discussed. (RH). |
