Annotation | POVA, the Protection of Vulnerable Adults Scheme came into force on 26 July 2004 for care homes and domiciliary care agencies. At the heart of the POVA scheme is the POVA list. Care workers are referred to the list if they have harmed, or put at risk of harm, a vulnerable adult in their care. Generally, checks are made against the list when employers are about to offer an individual a care position. This Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document provides an introduction to, and explains some detailed aspects of the POVA scheme to care providers and other stakeholders. However, for definitive guidance, the reader must refer to the Practical Guide. (RH). |
