AnnotationCombined Pension Forecasts (CPFs) bring together state pensions forecast information with a forecast of an individual's current occupational or private pension, to provide information needed to help people to plan for retirement. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioned IPF Research Ltd to undertake this qualitative research project to explore the experiences of those who both issue and receive CPFs. The study was based on case studies with 36 different employers or administrators, including in-depth interviews with 53 key staff involved with administering the scheme and 110 of their employees who received a CPF. The views and experiences of providers who have engaged with the CPF project focus on their motivations and barriers to involvement, and the decision-making process. The employee research covers their knowledge and interest in pension issues, their recall and the impact of receiving CPFs on awareness of the financial situation in retirement and actions taken. The findings indicate that the scheme has been well-received by both employers and employees, but that extending take-up to employers who may be less committed to pension provision may be more challenging.
