Annotation | Alcohol use disorders (AUDs) in older people cause significant morbidity and are likely to increase as the worldwide population ages. Problem drinking in older people is easily misdiagnosed and often ignored, so that its extent is underestimated. This article discusses age-specific primary and secondary prevention strategies, screening instruments, and diagnostic criteria to deal with this much neglected problem. (RH). |
