Annotation | There is widespread agreement that people with learning disabilities have poorer health than the rest of the population. This report uses case studies to illustrate the experiences of people with learning disabilities in their contact with and use of health services, and seeks to engage with everyone involved. It summarises what is known about the health needs of people with learning disabilities, and for these to be made more visible to health practitioners. The policy context relates to England and Northern Ireland, but notes that there is little guidance available in Northern Ireland on how health services should meet the needs of people with learning disabilities.
