AnnotationTwo months after the House of Commons Health Select Committee's report highlighting the scale of elder abuse, it is feared that regulatory changes by the Department of Health (DH) could put older people more at risk. This article reports on the views of representatives of the National Care Homes Association (NCHA), Action on Elder Abuse (AEA), and the Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS) regarding the introduction of the Protection of Vulnerable Adults (POVA) scheme and the role of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) in administering the POVA list.
