Annotation | The overarching objective of the IMPACT Program was to develop, implement, evaluate and disseminate an educational programme on ethics and the primary care of patients with dementia, making teaching about ethical issues an inseparable part of the clinical training. A pre- and post-rotation self-confidence measure, a post-rotation assessment of the importance of and achievement of the programme's goals, and a post-rotation evaluation of the programme were administered. There were significant increases in residents' confidence in performing the programme's clinical goals and in overall confidence. Programme goals were met and components of the programme were rated highly. It was found that a well-designed ethics curriculum can be successfully implemented within a clinical rotation for medicine residents, and have a positive impact on the quality of the educational experience and their confidence in performing relevant clinical management behaviours.
