Annotation | The six articles in this issue of the Journal of Elder Abuse and Neglect focus on the US National Policy Summit on Elder Abuse and its recommendations. From the perspective of many in the field, the Summit and the resultant Action Agenda constitute landmark developments. The Action Agenda (also included in this issue) reflects serious deliberation by experts about how to address many of the most pressing problems in elder abuse. It provides a policy road map for making improvements. The articles explain and expand on several of the priority Summit recommendations, e.g. education of the public and promotion of action on elder abuse. Also included is an analysis of the Summit's essential implementation components, and advice about how to replicate this policy-focused approach at the state and local levels. (KJ/RH). |
