Annotation | This Bill is to amend the law relating to the provision of retirement income in respect of private and personal pensions, annuities and defined and additional voluntary contribution pension schemes. If enacted, this Private Members Bill amends the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 sections 630 (interpretation), 633 (scope of benefits), and section 634 (annuity to member); repeals sections 634A and 636A; and adds a further section, 637B (Retirement Income Fund). The Bill also states that the amount of the Minimum Retirement Income shall be set for each financial year following consultation by the Chancellor of the Exchequer by order before 31st January in the preceding financial year. A similar Bill was introduced in session 2002/03. The Bill was dropped after its first reading on 7 January 2004. (KJ/RH). |
