AnnotationThis is a sequel to, rather than a new edition of Kane and Kane's 1981 book "Assessing the elderly: a practical guide to measurement". As in the original volume, it looks at assessment of function, health, emotion, cognition, and social well-being. Also covered in Part 1, on assessment content, are family caregivers, physical environments, preferences, spirituality, and satisfaction. Part 2 looks at some of the common applications of assessment tools: comprehensive geriatric assessment, care co-ordination, and care management. Also included are mandated assessments, and assessing older people who have substantial cognitive impairments. It should be noted that this is the 2000 edition, published as a paperback. (RH).
