Annotation | Physical touch is integral to nursing practice. However, there are gaps and inconsistencies in the literature informing care, particularly in relation to older people with dementia. The authors review the literature, from which the following themes emerged: physical touch as an aspect of nursing practice; the effect of touch; and the use of touch with those clients with a diagnosis of dementia.
