Annotation | Ellis and Willmott are keen proponents of the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF). Their paper, given at the Institute of Ageing and Health (West Midlands) meeting in Birmingham in March 2003, notes the importance of identifying areas where further work is required, while also recognising and encouraging some of the innovative developments that have already happened. They do this with reference to how four of the standards are being delivered: Standard 2, Person-centred care; Standard 6, Falls; Standard 8, Promoting active, healthy older age; and Standard 1, Rooting out age discrimination. Involving a range of older people from diverse backgrounds and with different needs is also important, if we are to ensure that the NSF does lead to more quality and equality in health and social care.
