AnnotationThis toolkit helps support family carers of people with learning disabilities, as part of the Carers Strategy. It is supported by the National Taskforce. It is part of government strategy as contained in the White Paper "Valuing People: a new strategy for learning disability for the 21st century" (Cm 5086, TSO 2001), as well as in Cally Ward's report, "Family matters: counting families in" (DH, 2001). The toolkit puts together all the things that Local Authorities and Learning Disability Partnership Boards should be doing for families of people with learning disabilities (including families from minority ethnic communities and older family carers), and has examples and tools to help do this work.
