AnnotationThe activity experiences, reasons for travel, quality of life and selected demographic and personal attributes were examined in this study of older travellers making extended stay visits. Data were collected from a convenience sample of 154 visitors to a winter tourist destination in Texas. Subjects' mean age was 69.9 years, and their average destination length of stay was 3.5 months. Results indicated that when subjects were grouped by destination activity participation frequency, interactive computer use and moderate to vigorous exercise distinguished the older traveller's activity experiences. Ownership of a personal computer, travelling to the destination because of the climate, and satisfaction with personal health significantly differentiated the more involved extended stay traveller from the less involved.
