Annotation | This issue of the Journal of Pain & Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy offers a number of papers that describe pioneering work on the front lines of pain and palliative care service planning and implementation for under-served populations. Future demands for such care will be greater with a globally ageing population and with the increasing prevalence of HIV/AIDS. In order to succeed in marginalised populations, programmes must tackle the medical, socio-economic, cultural and ethical needs of such people. Contributions cover India, Chile, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Uganda, New Zealand, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, and the plight of American Indians and Alaskan natives.
