Annotation | 610 United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals aged 60+ were interviewed with an Arabic version of the Geriatric Mental State Interview (GMS-A3) and a short questionnaire for relevant sociodemographic data. The GMS-AGECAT proved a useful tool for psychiatric assessment of older people in this Arabian culture: most commonly found was depression (20.2%). The prevalence rates of mental disorders in the UAE older population were, more or less, within the same range reported by other comparable worldwide studies. (RH). |
