Never too late to learn [education for older people] | Author(s) | Eric Midwinter |

Pages | pp 10-12 |

Keywords | Adult Education ; U3A. |
Annotation | The UK's "National Education Service" is far too child and youth centred, and is both prescriptive of what is expected to be learnt and who is entitled to its "wares". Instead, it should be recognised that people of all ages need mental stimulation, such as that provided by the University of the Third Age (U3A), of which Eric Midwinter is a co-founder. He expounds his belief in the case for recurrent or lifelong education in its widest sense as a way of maintaining health. (RH). |
