AnnotationIn Germany, at the end of 2002, the number of people aged 60+ was 20.1 million, compared with only 15.6 million at the end of 1970 - an increase of 29% when the population as a whole has grown by only 6%. This article presents information on Germany's demographic structure, with projections for 2050. The effects of longer life expectancy on health and healthcare are considered. (RH).
