Annotation | Economic models of intergenerational relations in developing countries revolve around the idea of a contract: parents look after the young in return for support in old age. This paper is based on ethnographic research undertaken with families in low-income communities in urban and rural Tamil Nadu. The objective is to describe how intergenerational relations vary by social and economic context. (RH). |
