AnnotationThe Salvation Army commissioned The Henley Centre to explore significant, emerging trends in British society. The research took as its dominant themes - community, individuality and responsibility. A key concern to emerge from this research is the growing "responsibility gap" in British society. This is defined as the "growing deficit of care for vulnerable groups in contemporary British society" (p7). Care for the increasing numbers of older people and the needs of their carers featured as part of this discussion paper. (KJ).
