AnnotationA meta-analysis of 20 controlled outcome studies on reminiscence and life review found them to be potentially effective treatments for depression and depressive symptomatology in older people, and may thus offer a viable alternative to psychotherapy or pharmacotherapy. It may prove to be an effective, safe and acceptable form of treatment for non-institutionalised older people. Randomised trials with sufficient statistical power are necessary to confirm the results of this study. (RH).
