AnnotationPolicy and research "experts" presume to know what is best for older people. However, older people are not setting the research agenda or framing research questions. The author explores the position of older people in influencing service planning; and considers the gap between existing research knowledge, policy guidance and its application. He raises some fundamental questions that policy makers, practitioners and researchers need to ask themselves. (RH).
