AnnotationArticles in this issue of the Journal of Integrated Care examine the policy of intermediate care, for example by comparing it with another of the home countries' strategies (integrated care in Scotland), or with reference to implementation in a particular locality (Cornwall). Those features of intermediate care that might be attractive to voluntary organisations and volunteers are considered in the case of Age Concern Calderdale. Reviews of the Hospital at Home scheme in 1996 and 2003 enable some assessment to be made of the impact of intermediate care. Jill Manthorpe's editorial provides an introduction to these articles.
