Annotation | An increasing number of initiatives seek to involve older people, and it also makes sense to involve people in the services being provided for them, to the benefit of all. This paper concerns older people's involvement in research into health and social care services. It describes different modes of involvement: assisting with identification of research agendas or questions; as participants in the research process; as advisers to researchers; and as researchers. Although there is a willingness to promote involvement, "getting it right" to the satisfaction of both participants and professionals remains an acknowledged challenge for all involved. Issues to be considered are listed. (RH). |
