Annotation | This introduction to this issue of Journal of Women & Aging sets out the main issues and themes that are looked at afresh. These include the health and psychological effects of widowhood; economic well-being; long-term care; and the bereavement process. Overall this volume looks at the lives of older widows and divorcees, and some of the problems they face in adjusting to life without a spouse. Two of the nine studies are cross-national with a focus on the Philippines and Fiji, and on sub-Saharan Africa. (KJ/RH). |
